Last week and next week, the CWS team and partners in Cambodia are sharing emergency food – rice, oil and fish sauce – with more than 700 families in Battambang and Preah Vihear provinces.
Families were prioritized for support because their breadwinners have lost their jobs in the wake of the COVID-19 threat. The newly-unemployed have returned from cities in Cambodia and from Thailand because the factories, shops and farms where they were working have stopped their operations. So, these families no longer have their wages to buy their day food.
During one of our village gatherings, the woman pictured here thanked CWS and our partner, ADOVIR, for our help. She said that without it she and her grandchildren would have no food at all. Now, at least they have rice.
Now we are sharing her gratitude with our friends and funders from America, Finland and New Zealand, especially. Together, their generosity makes all our work with Cambodian communities possible. Without their team effort to fund us, our teamwork to get through this crisis with families and communities would be impossible.
