On December 11, 2018 government and civil society organizations came together to discuss a call for joint efforts in supporting humanitarian activities in Vietnam. The Conference is an initiative of Vietnam Red Cross and was hosted by the organization in cooperation with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO). With the theme, “Promoting Social Responsibility and Humanitarian Aid of Organizations and Enterprises in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0”, the gathering was held to strengthen and expand partnerships with international and local organizations and enterprises to call for increased humanitarian activities for the sake of communities.
More than 300 delegates joined together from these entities: Party, State and Fatherland Front; government ministries and central agencies; mass organizations; the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Vietnam Red Cross; diplomatic missions, international organizations, including non-government groups like CWS, and domestic and international enterprises. In addition to their call for more partnership and action, conference conveners also focused on evaluating the results of the humanitarian aid program in Vietnam for the past five years and the priority orientation in humanitarian activities for the 2019-2022 period.
At the event’s closing ceremony, CWS was one of the only 10 international non-government organizations honored in for our supports for humanitarian responses in the past five years.
