Daw Min is a 67-year-old woman from Pathein Township in southwest Myanmar who was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) late last year when her family noticed that she was coughing all the time and losing weight. When first diagnosed, she started taking the medicine she needed but her family could not afford them for the long-term. Because CWS has ties to her community from our disaster response and risk mitigation work, Daw Min is now able to get her medicines along with products to help her have better personal hygiene and supplementary food to help improve her nutrition – all essential to her recovery. Her health is improving, and she and her family are really pleased that CWS support will help her for another 3 months by which time clinic staff expect that she will recover.
