Throughout the world, and especially in developed countries, one can often see people reading books in their free time – whenever and wherever: at a bus station, in the park, during lunch in a café. But, it so different when in Vietnam, especially in rural areas, and even in schools! This is not because Vietnamese people, including children, do not like reading; rather, it is because they have no good books to read! With this concern, the CWS team in Vietnam approached a group of young professionals, Link Vietnam, who contribute a portion of their own salaries to help children. Fortunately, they decided to join CWS efforts to bring books to children and in developing child-friendly libraries at poor rural schools! With their donation of ten million Vietnamese Dong ($440), 356 books (48 titles) are now available to almost 1,000 students in four primary schools where CWS partners with communities in rural Vietnam. Now, CWS staff are hopeful to strengthen the partnership, all around, so more children and benefit more young professionals can feel growing pride in the good they are doing in their country.
