In response increased demand from Vietnam’s NGO/Government WASH working group, CWS and several other NGOs joined the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology [www.cawst.org/] to organize a three-day training course about bio-sand water filtration. CWS was particularly happy to join this group as WASH comprises an important part of our work in the country.
The course focused on introducing up-to-date bio-sand technology and techniques plus hands-on practice making filters. All 17 participants, including technical and management staff from five NGOs as well as health practitioners and institutional researchers, found the workshop useful and motivating. And, everyone left the workshop saying they were inspired to know and share the latest developments in this simple, affordable technology – which is quite appropriate for rural Vietnam – with their organization’s and the communities they help.
CWS has a longstanding partnership with CAWST in Cambodia, and is also joining with them to host a similar training workshop in Myanmar soon.
