As the Myanmar team resumes community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) activities following many months of flood response, they are working with local YMCA and Red Cross Society partners to lead First Aid training in Ngapudaw Township in the southwest Ayerwaddy River delta. 37 DRR sub-committee members from five villages joined a workshop for First Aid basics, with a special focus on inherent river delta risks, like snake bites and other flood-related injuries, including those requiring emotional and psycho-social support; and referral. All members actively participated and became certified Red Cross Society first aiders, which will routinely serve their communities well, and particularly when future floods or other hazards arise.
