In May CWS joined with Plan International and other members of Vietnam’s NGO WASH working group for a 5-day training course on “Delivering Effective WASH Training”.
Lena Bunzenmeyer, an experienced technical adviser and trainer from the Center for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology , led the workshop, which focused on increasing practical knowledge and improving skills for facilitating effective teaching-learning about water, sanitation and hygiene in Vietnam. Workshop participants were experienced practitioners and specialists from both the NGO community and key government water / WASH partners.
In addition to Lena’s teaching sessions, all of which were interactive and cognizant of all the expertise and experience among participants, sessions including role playing and skills’ practice in both small group and plenary sessions.
At the end of the workshop, some NGO colleagues, especially the young trainees, noted that even though they had to be away from work for the whole week and also had to pay some of their own costs to join the workshop, they found themselves lucky to join in this great training opportunity, which is exactly addressing their needs and helps build up their capacity and careers to serve people through their WASH development projects.
