Recently, the CWS team in Vietnam announced a partnership with Football for All in Vietnam, which is a non-government group founded to expand children’s development, especially girls, through sport.
In the coming year, with funding and technical help from Football for All, CWS will use football (soccer), Vietnam’s favorite sport, as a platform to raise student awareness about issues of gender differences and inequality. Besides learning football skills and strategy with trained teacher-coaches, the project uses soccer practice and drills as a foundation for life skills education, like teamwork. After training and practice, football festivals will be held at participating schools, which will receive equipment for their student football clubs – which will engage 2,000-plus students to learn to play soccer and to develop important life skills, like confidence as well as cooperation, both of which are especially important for young girls.
