In early April, the CWS Vietnam hosted Dr. Barry Dawson and Mrs. Shelly Dawson, the Presbyterian Church (USA) Regional Liaisons for Southeast Asia, in Lang Chanh district about 120 miles south of Hanoi. There, the Dawsons, who live in Bangkok, met a number of people and saw “before and after” projects in several villages. At a satellite school in Hung village, where CWS does not work, Shelly and Barry were surprised by the challenges that children face there daily: no electricity, water or sanitary latrines. Seeing the successful development work that CWS is working with communities and their schools to help them make positive changes in their lives, the Dawsons decided to join forces with CWS to support WASH improvements in the Hung school. With this good start, the Vietnam team is energized to help strengthen PC-USA — CWS for sustainable development for more communities in Asia.
