Speaking to hundreds of Church of Christ in Thailand pastors about “how to grow a healthy church”, General Secretary Elder Surapong Mitrakul chose to highlight the importance of children by focusing on some who attend Church-sponsored schools. The CWS-supported Child Safeguarding Team was gratified to see that the General Secretary used information and data they have collected in focus group discussions and interviews following surveys of stud. Elder Surapong cited information, and comments from some children, to remind pastors how children face challenges to their safety and wellbeing, and even experience emotional and physical harm that confront core Christian and Thai family and social values. In noting the CWS team’s work toward changing the situation, he encouraged all Church pastors, who were together for their annual gathering, to remember to build churches that are safe for children in every way.
