Our CWS Indonesia team has just wrapped up an eventful week in Makassar, South Sulawesi with 35 colleagues from our key partner, Act for Peace (Australia), the ACT Alliance Indonesia Forum, local non-government and government agencies as well as CWS Japan who came together for a series of meetings and workshops about disaster management.
Highlights included a project design workshop for an urban disaster risk reduction project in Makassar and a disaster preparedness and response planning workshop for ACT Indonesia Forum members. There was also an information session about humanitarian innovation in the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network’s Tokyo Innovation Hub, facilitated by CWS Japan colleague, Ikue Uchida.
Rounding out the week was a refresh and update conversation about child protection and child safeguarding for ACT members; and, separately, an emergency preparedness and response workshop for CWS staff to review and update of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for Indonesia.
It was a busy and information-packed week, but all initial feedback was positive. And everyone went home tired but gratified for a good week of collegial sharing and professional development for CWS and our partner organizations’ staff.
